Hello! My name is Rob Mathison. I’m a lifelong Seattle-area resident, licensed real estate agent with 25 years of career experience supporting clients and negotiating contracts. This website began with a simple question: 

“What does the data actually say?”

I’ve always loved numbers and believed in numbers, long before “data” was a thing. I was that kid who analyzed his team’s little league statistics, loved US History because it involved lots of dates (numbers), and whose favorite Christmas gift in 1976 was the Guiness Book Of World Records because of all the statistics it contained. That’s one of the passions I bring to real estate and to this website RobInSeattle: a love for analyzing data. 

Whether it’s housing prices, neighborhood trends, mortgage rates, weather, local history, or life in Seattle, I’ve always enjoyed analyzing numbers, asking questions, and sharing what I discover. Real estate is full of opinions, headlines, and predictions. I prefer evidence.

Here you’ll find regular updates on the Seattle-area housing market, drawn from Northwest MLS data and explained in plain English. My goal isn’t to tell people they should buy or sell—it’s to help them better understand what’s happening so they can make informed decisions.

As a real estate agent serving Seattle, Bellevue, Burien, and surrounding communities, I also help buyers and sellers navigate one of life’s biggest financial decisions. I believe real estate works best as a relationship business, not a pressure business. Listening carefully, communicating honestly, and following through are far more important than high-pressure sales tactics.

I’m fortunate to work alongside Larissa Wilson of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northwest, one of the area’s top-producing agents. Together we combine deep local knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and a commitment to putting our clients’ interests first.

Outside of real estate, I enjoy writing, studying history, analyzing data, playing chess, and spending time with my family. Those interests often find their way into this site because Seattle isn’t just where I work—it’s home.
