Rob In Seattle

Seattle, Real Estate, and Real Estate Life In Seattle by an agent (me) named Rob 🙂

Thoughts From An Open House

Yesterday was my first open house as a real estate agent wherein I co-hosted with Larissa. Larissa has been ace-ing Open Houses for 17 years, but this was my very first one. It was enjoyable. It was interesting. Time SPED UP wherein a couple of hours was seemingly over in two minutes. The biggest reminders for me were this:

  1. Every day people are nice.
  2. People like chocolate. I handed out chocolates at the door and about 80% of the people took a piece or two.
  3. I myself LOVE chocolate. I myself had maybe 6 or 7 chocolates. I’m lucky there was chocolate left over for other people.
  4. We as every day people are just doing our thing. We’re not out trying to conquer the world or other people, we’re just living our every day lives. Sometimes that means attending open houses on a Saturday.
  5. People attend open houses for every reason. Some are looking for a house now, some are considering buying a house in the future, some are dreaming of the day they can buy their first/next house, and some people are just curious. It didn’t seem like anyone was there just for free chocolate but that’s okay — that’s not why I was handing out chocolates 🙂

I love life. I love experiences in life. I love writing about my experiences in life. I’ve attended open houses in my life — I’m grateful to have experienced an open house on the other side (agent). It was fun, and it’s fun to write about that experience. It reminded me that most of us are friendly people at heart just living our lives.
