Grateful for Rapid Ride and Light Rail: When the traffic got tough, I rode under it and over it and around it 🙂

I’m grateful for mass transit. I don’t take it very often anymore, bvut when I do I’m just so grateful for it!

Yesterday during the heart (and heat) of rush hour I was going to leave our home in West Seattle to meet Larissa in North Seattle. The World Cup and graduation season is happening, and of course it was a beautiful Friday evening in June, plus there is just regular rush hour traffic, so traffic was going to be hell!

Rather than battle that traffic, which frankly drives me crazy, I took the bus and Light Rail. And it was amazing. It took me 45 stress-free minutes while scrolling through my phone and staring out the window to blast around and beneath and over heavy traffic. Meanwhile, the view when I looked up from my phone was spectacular.

Life is short. Too short for sitting for hours at a time in heavy traffic. So I’m just so grateful to have the option of mass transit.

PIC:

A quick snapshot over the Duwamish River from the West Seattle bridge on a perfect 70-degree day. The view is dominated by the bus windows and Industrial areas with just a glimpse of Mt. Rainier to the left and the Duwamish River below, but those glimpses along with the blue sky and the daylight were enough. We are going 50 MPH on the bus while other cars were inching forward a bit at a time 🙂 (photo enhanced to offset my ancient iPhone’s scuffed lense 🙂 )

Rather than staring at cars in traffic, I was able to focus on blue sky and mountains while the transit drivers did the driving 🙂
